Tourism continued on Saturday with a walk from Recoleta to the center, where he climbed the dome of the Obelisk to have a 360° view of the city. From there, with Buenos Aires at his feet, he apparently connected with the Albiceleste culture: “I feel very attracted by the melancholy of tango and Buenos Aires, which are one,” stated.

The tour continued with a visit to the Teatro Colón, where he was received by the Minister of Culture Gabriela Ricardes and the director Gerardo Grieco. The work that Malkovich presents in Buenos Aires next Friday March 27 It is based on texts by Roberto Bolaño and proposes a stage experience where acting, live music and story are mixed.

For 90 minutes, Malkovich becomes the narrator of a dark story, accompanied by Anastasya Terenkova, one of the most important pianists in the world, along with Andrej Bielow (violin) and Fabrizio Colombo (bandoneon) who will be performed by Astor Piazzolla, Antonio Vivaldi, Erik Satie and Alberto Iglesias, among others.

The plot reconstructs the story of Ramírez Hoffman, an aviator and poet who writes verses in the sky while being part of the repressive machinery of the Chilean dictatorship.

With a dark and ironic tone, the setting depicts a character who tries to justify horror through art, as if creation could be located above any ethical limit. Far from romanticizing it, the work exposes it and makes it evident, while asking the audience an uncomfortable question: How far can art go? At this intersection, the show dialogues with Latin American political memory and with the permanent tension between aesthetics and ideology.
