Next March 24, 50 years after the coup of ’76, Acqua Discos will publish, on all platforms, the work “From nostalgia to revelation”composed by guitarist and teacher Ricardo Capellano in 1980-81.

This work, which includes 12 pieces for solo, classical and acoustic guitar, was composed during the genocidal civic-military dictatorship, recorded and published by hand in 1981, on cassettes.

From nostalgia to revelation It was an urgent work that converged with the great artistic resistance movement of the time. And, furthermore, it precedes the aesthetic, compositional and guitar changes developed by the composer since 1983.

“In 1980, parallel to the journey of my group Rumbos, I needed to express in solitude the tremendous pain I felt due to the murders and disappearances of so many companions, some very close. That is why I decided to compose this work for solo guitar, intended as a suite of popular rhythms,” said Capellano. “Then we tackled the artisanal adventure of recording and publishing and finally the successful cycle of presentation in the Manzana de las Luces.”

“The titles expose, in some way, my own journey in the face of the drama of the time, my intimate and progressive rebellion, the end of helplessness and the deep embrace of a resistant group,” added the composer. He then pointed out that “with the great collaboration of Fabián Lebenglik, I recorded the pieces in ten days, in the apartment where I lived, from my guitar with a contact microphone and an equalization pedal live to a console/amplifier/deck with a chrome cassette. Then we patiently made 300 copies on cassettes.”

The author says that his “dear colleagues at Gas del Estado, where he worked at that time,” “helped him write, on each cassette, the extensive title with letterpress!”

The current edition, 50 years after the coup and in a political and economic framework of anti-democratic regression, is an act of justice for those old music created from the pain and struggle that has never been abandoned.

The digitization of the cassette and premastering were carried out by Edgardo González and the final mastering was carried out by Mariano Míguez, with the idea of improving the audio without makeup interventions. Capellano is the author of more than 14 albums, among them Crime reconstructionpublished in 2025 and The Phantom Organizationremastered in 2020.
