Ticketmaster rules out mass release of tickets for BTS in Mexico

Ticketmaster confirmed that the release of tickets at the original price will be limited to the United States and Canada after detecting irregularities in those markets. In Mexico, the company found no evidence of technical resale, maintaining current availability without immediate changes for the May dates.

Official position on availability in Mexican venues

The “ARIRANG” world tour has generated unprecedented expectations, leading to massive requests for the reopening of sales. However, the institutional response of the ticket office marks a clear operational difference between the North American regions. While purchases that violated security rules were identified in the United States and Canada, the processes in Mexican territory were validated as legitimate under the company’s protocols.

The ticket recovery mechanism applied in the north consists of a prior request system with automatic charge to the credit card. This protocol seeks to reintegrate into the market those seats obtained through bots or violations of purchase limits, a measure that, for the moment, is excluded for the presentations on May 7, 9 and 10 in Mexico.

Profeco intervention in response to audience complaints

Despite the initial refusal of the ticket office, the pressure exerted by the followers of the South Korean group escalated to government agencies. The Federal Consumer Prosecutor’s Office began a formal investigation derived from the alleged anomalies reported during the initial sale. This action included a direct warning to the company, seeking to guarantee transparency in the assignment of each available seat.

The discrepancy between user perception and the ticket office’s technical report keeps the secondary market under surveillance. The lack of internal evidence of irregularities on the part of the platform does not nullify the supervisory powers of the Mexican authorities in consumer protection.

Technical factors for a possible last-minute release

Historically, ticket offerings in Mexico experience technical adjustments weeks or even 24 hours before each massive event. Although there is no official statement that guarantees a new sale for BTS, certain operating scenarios usually lead to the appearance of residual inventory:

  • Excess limit per account: Detection of multiple transactions associated with the same credit card or user profile that exceed the maximum allowed.
  • Irregularities in access codes: Improper use of Fan Club memberships or code loans that invalidate the original transaction.
  • Banking incidents: Failures in payment processing, cancellations due to unrecognized charges or conflicts with interest-free month promotions.

New transparency regulations in ticket sales

The controversy generated by this event has driven structural changes in the operation of ticket offices in the country. Based on the reported incidents, strict guidelines have been established that require critical information to be published at least 24 hours in advance of the start of any pre-sale or general sale:

  • Event details: Rigorous specification of place, date, times and lineup of artists.
  • Actual inventory: Publication of interactive maps showing sections and exact number of seats available per zone.
  • Pricing clarity: Breakdown of the total cost by section, eliminating last-minute increases during the checkout process.
  • Refund protocols: Clear definition of refund mechanisms in case of cancellation of the show.

Any substantial modification in the characteristics of the concert, similar to production changes seen in previous high-demand events, must be notified to users with a minimum margin of one day before the event takes place.
