With a will to escape that any psychology student would detect as dangerous, for days Javier Milei has done nothing but avoid the overwhelming – it is true – conflicts that are going through his management. The publication of the video, which this medium obtained exclusively, in which Manuel Adorni can be seen cheerfully boarding a private plane bound for Punta del Este, plus the slow but firm progress of the $Libra cause, which has him and his sister Karina as the main beneficiaries of a business that is complicated to understand but easy to collect, revealed the president’s political inability to emerge above the labyrinth that he himself built.
In a matter of ten days, the president toured four countries. United States, where he participated in the forgettable Argentina Week; Chile, where it was photographed at the swearing-in of José Antonio Kast; Spain, to receive an award and visit his idol, the economist Jesús Huerta de Soto, and Hungary, where he participated in a new edition of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). In the few moments that he barely hinted at referring to the most turbulent weeks that his government can remember, the president once again awakened the specter of a coordinated destabilization attempt between businessmen and the opposition that only he believes is possible. “That’s Javier,” says a man who has known him for a long time with affection, trying to explain the outbursts of an increasingly less original Milei.
Thousands of kilometers closer to reality, the honorary members of his administration are immersed in a dispute that, as has already been warned in these columns on more than one occasion, will only culminate when one of the two sides politically kills its rival. Karina Milei, who accompanied her brother on each of his flights, is convinced that Santiago Caputo coordinates from the shadows the attacks on his tribe in revenge for having taken the Ministry of Justice from him, coordinated from the shadows by the now Treasury Attorney, Sebastián Amerio.
In the advisor’s circle they flatly deny their participation. They even make it known that the communication between the libertarian guru and Adorni is practically daily to know first-hand the emotional state of the chief of staff who, as it turned out, is in terrible emotional conditions. To prove his innocence, Caputo sent his digital lackeys to defend the former spokesperson tooth and nail, but nothing more than going to sleep can be done when fame is already made. Karina knows it. In the last few hours it was learned that the round-trip flight to Uruguay was billed in the name of Imhouse, the production company that has journalist Marcelo Grandio as its main shareholder. The host of Public TV, the same one that Adorni has been trying to close for months alleging reduction of expenses in public accounts, accompanied the Chief of Staff and his family on the flight that departed from San Fernando.
The total amount of the trip is around USD 8,830, more than 20% of the dollar savings declared by the chief of staff in his latest affidavit, which does not exceed USD 43,000. If the payment of the trip in business to New York for another USD 5,000, the amount of savings used only to pay for tickets rises to more than 34% of the declared savings. All this if one believes the word that the payments were made only with money from the former spokesperson’s wallet and not with the piggy bank of the important art-fanatic businessman whose name has already reached the ears of Justice. Who hasn’t used a joint to travel around the world. Because handouts have no place in libertarian government, right?
Following the report, Congresswoman Marcela Pagano expanded her complaint and announced that Adorni has a house in a country house in Exaltación de la Cruz that, in market value, is between 130,000 and 200,000 dollars. It has an approximate payment of expenses of $700,000 that comes in the name of the owner of the lot, in this case, the wife of the former journalist. The first, the most obvious, is the recognition of guilt, even before Ariel Lijo, the judge who has the case investigating the trip and who a few months ago almost sat in the Supreme Court, defines the procedural future of the former spokesperson. The second, but no less important, is the dedicated political custody that the sister granted to her bishop.
The general secretary of the presidency is determined to advance in each of the ranks of the government currently controlled by her archenemy, Santiago Caputo. Focused like a piranha stalking its prey, the youngest of the Milei will not let her brother sacrifice the one who serves as her eyes, ears and mouth within the Pink House.
