With a heartfelt and nostalgic message, Andrés Ciro Martínez fired Daniel Buira this Saturdayfirst drummer and founder of Los Piojos, who died this morning of a heart attack at the headquarters of the “La Chilinga” Percussion School, at the age of 54.

In the message, which is accompanied by a photo with Buira, the singer also stated: “The images overlap. I will always see you behind the patches. With your joking laugh. Your repeated phrases. Playing what is sung to you. A percussionist with drums. A creative. An artist.”

“We had the pleasure of playing together again. Of being Los Piojos on stage again. You waited in silence for 25 years. And you enjoyed it deeply,” he continued.

And he closed: “I hug you here in the rain, from the Uruguayan shore, which inspired us so much. I send heartfelt condolences to his family, on behalf of myself and all the people of Los Persas. We are going to miss you. Let the drums sound from above. Draw master!”

The first to dedicate a few words to Buira was Luciana Valdés, better known as Luli Bass, the bassist of Los Piojos in the band’s return.
