On the first day of the second trial for the death of Diego Maradona, Mariano Israelit, a friend of Diez, stated this Tuesday that his entourage, led in recent times by his lawyer, Matías Morla, and other collaborators, “it was in their best interest for him to die,” since they owned the image rights and the idol’s brand and could continue profiting.
“Maybe they made him (Maradona) sign in bad conditions, I don’t know. Then what happened happened…” Israelit confided about the relationship between Maradona and Morla, who is not among those accused of the death of the former captain of the national team, in the trial that restarted this Tuesday in the San Isidro courts.
In that sense, the man claimed not to know the reason why the lawyer was not included in the trial, given that “he knew many things and saw many things” related to Maradona. Furthermore, and in statements to radio Colonia, he did not hesitate to affirm that the lawyer and his collaborators, the former player “was better off dead, just two months ago they took away the image rights and the Maradona brand,” and he hinted that in the meantime they continued to make profits in those areas.
On the other hand, Israelit also criticized Maradona’s primary doctor, Leopoldo Luque, whom he called “cholulo and parsley. I don’t know how he got to Diego, I think Morla introduced him.”
And regarding the trial, he expressed that “I hope it serves to find the guilty, that no one goes unpunished, Diego’s death was a sinister and very sad event,” and recalled the poor conditions in which Maradona lived when he died: “I once saw that in the pantry there were several boxes of beer, wine and fernet. How were they going to give him that if Diego had alcohol problems?”
“They changed his cell phone every ten days, which made communication very difficult. They didn’t take care of him, there was a lot of obscurity around him,” he concluded.

At the door of the building, A dozen Maradona admirers gathered to demand justice for his death.
One of them considered that the death of “Diez” was “premeditated”. Enrique traveled from the City of Buenos Aires by bicycle to the North Zone to ask that the facts be clarified.
The man stated that all the accused have a share of responsibility. “It was an unjust death, everyone around him let him die”he expressed.
A few minutes after 10, the debate began in which the judges Alberto Gaig, Alberto Ortolani and Pablo Rolón They asked the seven accused to offer their personal information, while later They authorized all parties to record audio at the hearings with the exception of providing them to the media.
Injured individuals, defenders and prosecutors agreed, but lawyer Francisco Oneto proposed that the trial be broadcast live, since the “privacy” of the process is “public”he explained.
“In this trial there will be winners and losers. The decision you (judges) make will be criticized“said the lawyer.
The only hearings that can be followed on the YouTube channel of the Buenos Aires Supreme Court are the first, the closing arguments and the verdictwhich is why Ferrari opposed Oneto’s proposal and supported the idea of the three refereeswhich was also supported by the complaints.
A fourth intermission was held and the members of the Court rejected the request of Luque’s defender as they considered it disproportionate.
Prosecutor Ferrari described “improvised group” to the medical team in charge of fighting for the patient’s health and stated: “There were multiple alarms, but they decided not to listen to them.”
“They did nothing to prevent Maradona from dying. He started dying 12 hours before”Ferrari expressed and added: “Diego was screaming, he was choking and there was criminal indifference.”
In this way, he announced that they will show telephone conversations at the trial.
Burlando assured that Maradona was “murdered” and? “He was surrounded by unknown people”while “the heart was never heard” by Diego “between November 11 and 25, 2020.” According to Dalma and Gianinna’s legal sponsor, he was “excessively swollen” and pointed out that for professionals it was “swollen”.
“What these people did was reckless. I can’t find words to define what happened to Diego. A diabolical environment was formed.”he remarked.
At the same time, he reiterated that “There were no medical devices, not even a Band-Aid.”
Pablo Jurado, the sisters’ lawyer, requested a guilty verdict. “It was the chronicle of a death foretold,” he maintained, while Linfante indicated that the state of “deterioration” was “reversible”.
Oneto was the first of the defenders to speak and pointed against the accusers by predicting that “we are going to prove that he died of a heart attack.”
In turn, Roberto Rallín, Another member of Luque’s legal team uttered a phrase that generated surprise among those present and anger among the victim’s relatives: “If Diego were alive he would ask that Luque not be condemned; he loved him.” Immediately, Gianinna exclaimed “no, well…” upon hearing the unusual statement.
The lawyer spoke with NA and explained the unexpected situation that occurred in the courtroom: “There is no one who doubts that Diego wanted Luque, there is no one. What’s more, he asked that only Luque be operated on.”Rallín highlighted.
“The idea of the guideline was to show that we all feel affected by Maradona’s death, in one way or another. Now, That does not mean having to hold people responsible just for the sake of it, and that could not lead to attributing responsibility to the company without having any reliable evidence.which we understand that as of today there is none”he expressed.
Regarding the round of witnesses, the defender stated: “We have already offered the list, the evidence. First the prosecution witnesses are going to testify and we only want them to give us a schedule, because it is not the same to come without knowing blindly.”
Vadim Mischanchuk, defender of the psychiatrist, highlighted: “The person in charge of Maradona’s health was Maradona himself.”
“To say that Cosachov ‘experimented’ with the body” of the patient “is aggravating”recriminated regarding Fernando Burlando’s opening line.
In this sense, Mischanchuk stated that the trigger for death was a “left ventricular arrhythmia”.
Lawyer Diego Olmedo, one of Carlos Díaz’s defenders, confirmed that his client “had nothing to do” with the death: “What interest would Díaz have in killing Maradona? He met him 30 days before his death.”
On the other hand, the lawyer Martín Montalto stated that Mariano Perroni—the coordinator of nurses at Medidomthe outsourced company hired for Diego’s home confinement— “He was never able to see Maradona”hence “We are going to reconstruct the events as they occurred. The accusation against Perroni is going to lose substance”he outlined.
Nicolás D’Albora, Forlini’s defender, reiterated that the “Treating doctors were Cosachov and Luque”while María Luján Marcelli, Di Spagna’s official lawyer, demanded the absolution.
“He went to see him only once on November 12, 2020 to carry out an interconsultation, but they denied him access”explained the lawyer.
Marcelli considered that the professional was “victim” of the accusations and “neither” had an influence on the death.
Following opening statements, Judges Rolón, Ortolani and Gaig asked the parties to announce which witnesses will appear at future hearings with a “minimum of 24 hours.”
The prosecutors they agreed and then Cosachov’s defender asked if his client had the right not to attend the conference, to which Gaig authorized it.__IP__
The first hearing ended and the first testimonies will begin next Thursday.
