PLAYA DEL CARMEN, QR.- In an effort to democratize access to world-class shows, the municipal government led by President Estefania Mercadoannounced the presentation of the National Ballet of Panama at the City Theater. The next April 15 and 16At 7:00 p.m., families from Playa will be able to enjoy the suite “Don Quixote”one of the most emblematic pieces of the global classical repertoire.
This event is part of the artistic billboard called “April is Dance”which seeks to strengthen cultural ties between Mexico and Panama. Ernesto Santiago Martínez Cuéllar, general director of the Municipal Institute of Culture and the Arts (IMCAP), extended an open invitation to the community to witness a staging that integrates 40 professional dancers directed by the renowned Serbian maestro Sasa Adamovich.

Academic excellence with the National Ballet of Panama
The “Don Quixote” suite will not only delight with classical technique, but will include complementary pieces such as “To the drum of joy”, “Accents”, “Nostalgia”, “Idyll” and “Danzón”. The company, founded 74 years ago, has a history of touring cultural powers such as Russia, Spain and Japan, consolidating itself as a reference for Caribbean artistic heritage.
One of the most anticipated moments of the evening will be the Choreographic Parade in honor of the visiting company. In this event, students from the IMCAP workshops and seven local academies will share the stage under the guidance of Eduardo Blancointernationally renowned choreographer and disciple of the legendary Alicia Alonso.

Under the administration of Estefanía Mercado, Playa del Carmen has reinforced its identity as the Cultural Capital of Quintana Roo. The arrival of this ballet joins a list of high-impact events that include performances of “Dance Cuba”the International Theater Festival (FIC) and the International Book and Culture Fair (FILYC).
“We are bringing national and international culture closer to families; this is a government that believes in the social value of artistic expressions in our communities,” highlighted the municipal administration.
