Prince’s musical vault continues to bear fruit, ten years after his death a new song was released

This Tuesday, Tuesday, April 21 Ten years have passed since Prince’s death. And his archive of unreleased songs in his vault seems to never end: a new song was released, with its corresponding video clip, With This Tearwhich is now available on all platforms.

Recorded in November 1991 (i.e. 35 years ago) in Paisley Park, With This Tear (with this tear) features Prince producing, arranging, composing and performing all instrumentation. Shortly after its creation, Prince offered the song to Céline Dion, who recorded and released her own version in 1992.

The song had a recent remix and remastering by Chris James, a former Prince recording engineer, whose credits with the artist include HITnRUN Phase Two, Art Official Age and Plectrumelectrum. James is a Grammy-nominated producer.

This song marks the beginning of several unreleased Prince recordings planned for this yearas part of a never-before-released album project of his work. It is said that Prince He left enough songs recorded that they could release an album a year during this century.

The release comes in conjunction with the annual “A Day 2 Reflect | A Night 2 Remember,” held every April 21 at Paisley Park, his residence and recording studio, in honor of the anniversary of Prince’s passing. Daytime programming includes public tours, a community gathering at the NPG (New Power Generation) Music Club with origami dove making and a memorial fence, a curated listening room, and a candle lighting ceremony at 4:21 p.m. – your departure time – which will also be livestreamed. Evening events include a special walking tour of Paisley Park and a screening of Prince in Concert.

More celebrations and friendly musicians

It also precedes Prince’s upcoming 10th Anniversary Celebration of Life, a five-day global gathering honoring Prince’s enduring legacy, taking place June 3-7, 2026 in Paisley Park and in downtown Minneapolis.

Highlights of the newly announced programming include live performances, exclusive access to unreleased music, rare concert screenings, immersive fan experiences and panels with Prince’s closest collaborators, along with tributes to iconic albums Parade, Emancipation, The Rainbow Children, Chaos and Disorder and 3121.

Signature events will include the Downtown Block Party at the Prince Mural, with a large free community karaoke for all ages on June 6, where thousands of fans will gather for a huge participatory tribute to Prince’s greatest hits, led by a live band and mass choir.

For the first time, members of New Power Generation and The Revolution – some of the bands that accompanied him – will celebrate Prince together on stage, including Bobby Z and Lisa Colemanjoining Morris Hayes, Tevin Campbell, Tony M, Levi Seacer, Sonny T, Cora Coleman, Cassandra O’Neal, Greg Boyer and Kenni Holmen.

Special guest artists throughout the week include Chaka Khan, Morris Day, Miguel, Kat Graham, Tevin Campbell, Sounds of Blackness, Bilal and recently The DeBargewith more to announce.

The ten years since Prince's death are a reason for tribute in his native Minneapolis.

Other appearances include Kris Kollinsmusical leader of Purple Rain, along with The New Artist Showcase, which spotlights the next generation of talent inspired by Prince’s legacy. This year also includes the return of DJ Dance Kickoff at First Avenue and a full lineup at Paisley Park.

Throughout the week, attendees will enjoy exclusive presentations of previously unreleased material and rare archival content, offering a deeper insight into Prince’s creative process and archive. VIP experiences will include guided tours of Paisley Park, curated cuisines, a Sunday gospel brunch and additional intimate programming designed to bring fans closer than ever to this legacy.
