Still trying to recover, without success, from the scandal that has Manuel Adorni immersed in a political and judicial trap, this Tuesday Javier Milei closed the annual event of the United States Chamber of Commerce in Argentina (AmCham) in which a large part of his cabinet also participated, and said that he is not going to “feign insanity with the inflation number.” From the beginning of his speech, the president acknowledged his discomfort with the index, although he rejected that it was due to the inefficiency of the economic program and, on the contrary, warned that the rise is linked to the world war situation, which pushed up the rise in oil, and the seasonal effects of March.
Notably angry with the red circle, journalism and the “econochantas,” the president once again emphasized that “the chainsaw cannot be cut,” while warning that they are not going to go back on the economic plan and will continue with the promised adjustment. «If we think in terms of inflation and growth, it would be nonsense to loosen policy to have more growth, inflation only takes you to hell. “This model is limited to a closed economy,” he said to clear up versions about possible changes to the official plan.

“Economic theory and empirical evidence say that what we have to do is maintain fiscal balance, continue with the chainsaw. We are going to continue cutting public spending to continue lowering taxes because taxes are theft. We are going to take all the pesos off the street until the inflation rate collapses,” he said in the same effusive tone that he uses when, as he himself warned, “Milei is Milei.”
With the intention of getting the message across to the business community that has long begun to show distrust due to the economic standstill, the president stated that they are not going to give up one bit in continuing to be deregulated, “because when you deregulate you release increasing returns and that generates economic growth, opening up the economy, because when you open it, the size of the market expands, it releases more increasing returns and generates more economic growth. We did not come to eternalize ourselves in power, we came to write the best page in history Argentina,” he said and stressed again that he will “go home” when he leaves power in two or six years.
In this same sense, he stated: “We are not going to leave the manual of doing things well. Afterwards people can decide another path, that will be the responsibility of Argentines, but when they see that the economy recovers and we lift people out of poverty, they will possibly join us to make Argentina great again.”

Despite the increase announced this Tuesday by INDEC, the president assured that the figure of 3.4% is nothing more than a seasonal number. “If you look at wholesale inflation, which is advanced, it travels around 10%. We have to finish accommodating relative prices and converge there. What we have to do is be patient. We must not despair. When one becomes desperate, we make bad decisions. We are not going to go against economic theory and empirical evidence. Nor are we going to violate our moral values when designing economic policy,” he said.
Regarding inflationary reasons, the president insisted on talking about the opposition’s alleged conspiracy to destabilize the government. “After Manuel (Adorni) did his extraordinary campaign in the City of Buenos Aires that allowed him to win, there was an attack on the heart of the model trying to break the fiscal balance, although they did not succeed,” the president explained as a justification for the inflationary present, while sending strong support to his chief of staff. In this same framework, Milei pointed directly against Kirchnerism, a space that continues to be the main opposition reference. “People know the effort that is being made, they know that they do not want to go back to the past and that, if we continue doing things well, sooner or later, things will work,” said the libertarian leader.
INFLATION
The data is bad. We don’t like the data since inflation disgusts us. However, today there are hard elements that allow us to explain what has happened and especially to hope that in the future inflation will return to its downward path.

Before Milei, Luis Caputo He participated in one of the panels and promised that in the coming months there will be a significant reduction in inflation. «Inflation is going to have a death certificate. When will depend on how much the demand for money recovers, which also depends on confidence and interest rates that are already falling,” he stated before national and international businessmen looked on.
In this sense, the Minister of Economy defended the economic adjustment plan that the government is carrying out and warned that “If there is no predictability, there are no investments. In Argentina, work was done that had never been done, and it was also done by own decision, by political decision, not forced by the market.” The former Macrista’s statements come amid complaints from an important business sector that is beginning to make known its discontent over the declines in sales and internal and external investments.
