Extraordinary suspension in the state of Aguascalientes
Unlike the rest of the country, Aguascalientes begins this Monday, April 20, a period of more than 11 continuous days without school activity. This measure affects all levels of basic education, covering both public and private institutions within the entity. This is an extraordinary provision that is not replicated in any other state of the Mexican Republic.
The SEP confirmed that this extended pause is valid exclusively for said state, allowing the break to be extended until May 4. Consequently, the return to classrooms for hydro-warm students is scheduled for Tuesday, May 5. Meanwhile, in the rest of the states, the school rhythm will not suffer additional variations or interruptions during the month of April.
Reasons for the regional adjustment due to the San Marcos Fair
The technical reason for this change lies in the rescheduling of the Easter holidays by state authorities. The objective of this movement is to align the school break with the celebration of the San Marcos National Fair 2026, the most relevant cultural and economic event in the region.
In Aguascalientes, the students concluded their classes on Friday, April 17. This adjustment makes this period the longest break of the entire school year for the entity. The Ministry of Public Education has reiterated that these regional changes have official validity, as long as local authorities guarantee compliance with the number of effective school days stipulated in the annual program.
