From Iztapalapa to the world and the heart of the Caribbean

Euphoria erupted with the first notes of the accordion of “Entrega de amor.” From that moment on, the Malecón Tajamar was flooded with the unique style of cumbia sonidera that has positioned the Mejía Avante brothers at the top of the industry. The repertoire was a journey through decades of hits, including songs that have regained global relevance thanks to collaborations with artists of various genres: “The wonders of life”, “Ay amor”, “20 rosas”, and the chanted “El listón de tu pelo”.

The atmosphere of joy was maintained at a high level while anthems such as “Never is enough”, “How am I going to forget you” and “Love at first sight” paraded. Couples of all ages took advantage of the emblematic space to show off their best moves, demonstrating that music is, indeed, the universal language that unites the diverse Cancun population, made up of people of multiple nationalities who today call this paradise home.

Spectacular closing and musical legacy

After ninety minutes of impeccable execution, the climax came with the performance of their most iconic hit: “17 years”. With this song, the group closed a historic night, reaffirming its trajectory of more than four decades, which includes 22 studio albums and multiple live albums that have taken the slogan “From Iztapalapa to the world” to the most remote corners.

The balance of the celebration was total whitehighlighting the logistical organization that allowed thousands of families to enjoy a world-class show safely and free of charge. With this event, Cancún not only celebrates its past and its founding at the end of the 70s, but also projects a future where culture and public space are the axes of social peace.
